| The Large Binocular
Telescope Observatory (LBTO) at the University of Arizona seeks candidates
for the position of Telescope Operations Specialist, Senior. The Large
Binocular Telescope (LBT) represents a major advance in astronomical
research capabilities. The LBT will be the largest, most powerful
optical/infrared telescope in the world. LBT adaptive optics systems will
provide diffraction/limited-imaging capability with the resolution of a
22.8-meter telescope. The Telescope Operations Specialist will operate the
telescope and its instruments in order to facilitate the collection of
astronomical data. The position will report to the LBT Mountain Operations
Manager. The position is based in Safford, AZ, with duty station at the LBT
Observatory on Mt. Graham, at an altitude of 10,500 ft. The position
involves shift work at night. Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; tuition reduction for employee and qualified family members; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; state retirement; and more. As an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, the University of Arizona recognizes the power of a diverse community and encourages applications from individuals with varied experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds. |
