The 8.4m primary mirror on the polishing cell is positioned under the vacuum lifting fixture. Dave and Jim center the lifting fixture as it gets close to the mirror.

Vacuum pads stuck onto the primary mirror surface. The blue color comes from a plastic coating which protects the polished surface.
